Effective with the October 2001 restructuring of the IAA, as announced at the 52nd International Astronautical Congress in Toulouse, the following Taskgroups replaced the four Subcommittees of the former IAA SETI Committee:

• Lunar Farside Radio Laboratory (active)
• SETI Post-Detection (active)
• Communications with Extraterrestrial Intelligence (active)
• SETI Media/Education/Outreach (concluded)

The following Taskgroup was established by vote of the IAA SETI Permanent Study Group at its 3 October 2006 meeting in Valencia, Spain:
